-Transcript-

00:36 Amen. Thank you for joining me. Great to be back here today.

00:40 Today we are continuing our study in Exodus, specifically the ten plagues which starts in Exodus 7 goes to Exodus 12 and we’re gonna go right back into God’s Word here in Exodus 11 chapter 11 of Exodus verse 1.

00:56  And the Lord said unto Moses yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh and upon Egypt afterwards he will let you go hence when he shall let you go he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether speak now in the ears of the people and let every man borrow of his neighbor and every woman of her neighbor jewels of silver and jewels of gold and the Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants and in the people and Moses said thus saith the Lord about midnight

01:32  I will go out into the midst of Egypt and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne even into the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill and all the firstborn of the beasts and there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt such as there was none like it nor shall be like it anymore but against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue against man or beast that ye may know that how the Lord doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel

02:05  and all these thy servants shall come down unto me and bow down themselves unto me saying get thee out and all that all the people that follow thee and after that I will go out and he went out from Pharaoh in great anger and the Lord said unto Moses Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt and Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh and the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart so that he would not let the children of Israel go out of his land

02:39 Exodus: 12 and the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt saying this month shall be unto you the beginning of months it shall be the first month of the year to you speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel saying in the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb according to the house of their fathers a lamb for an house and if the household be too little for the lamb let him and his neighbor next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb your lamb shall be without blemish a male of the first year he shall take it out from the sheep or from the goats and he shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening

03:26 and they shall take of the blood and strike it on the side posts and on the upper door post of the houses wherein they shall eat it and they shall eat the flesh in that night roast with fire and unleavened bread and with bitter herbs they shall eat it eat not of it raw nor sodden at all with water but roast with fire his head with his legs and with the Puritans thereof and you shall let nothing of it remain until the morning and that which remaineth of it until the morning you shall burn with fire and thus you shall you eat with your loins girded your shoes on your feet and your staff in your hand you shall eat in haste it is the Lord’s Passover for I will pass through the land of Egypt this night and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt both man and beast against all the gods of Egypt

04:17 I will execute judgment I am the Lord and the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where you are and when I see the blood I will pass over you and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you when I smite the land of Egypt and this day shall be unto you for a memorial and you shall keep it a feast the Lord throughout your generations you shall keep it a feast by an ordinance forever seven days shall you eat unleavened bread even the first day you shall put away leaven out of your houses for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day that soul shall be cut off from Israel and in the first day there should be an holy convocation

05:00 and in the seventh day there should be a holy convocation to you no manner of work shall be done in them save that which every man must eat that only may be done a few and you shall observe the feast of unleavened bread for in the self same day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt therefore shall you observe this day in your generations by an ordinance forever in the first month on the 14th day of the month at even you shall eat unleavened bread until the 1 and 20th day of the month at even seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses for whosoever eateth that which is leavened even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel whether he be a stranger or born in the land you shall not you shall eat nothing leavened in your habitations you shall eat unleavened bread

05:51 then Moses called for all the elders of Israel and said unto them draw out and take your you a lamb according to your families and kill the Passover and you shall take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the blood that is in the basin and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the basin and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until morning for the Lord will pass through to smite the Egyptians when he seeth the blood from the lintel and on the two side posts the Lord will pass over the door

06:24 and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you and you shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons forever and it shall come to pass when ye become to the land which the Lord will give you according as he has promised that you shall keep this service and it shall come to pass when your children shall say unto you what mean ye by this service that you shall say it is the sacrifice of the Lord’s Passover who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt when he smote the Egyptians and delivered our houses and the people bowed the head and worshiped

06:59 and the children of Israel went away and did as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron so they did and it came to pass that at midnight the Lord smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon all and all the firstborn of cattle and Pharaoh rose up in the night he and all his servants of the Egyptians and there was a great cry in Egypt for there was not a house where there was not one dead and he called from Moses and Aaron by night

07:34 and said rise up and get you forth from among my people both ye and the children of Israel and go serve the Lord as he have as he have said also take your flocks in your herds as he have said and be gone and bless me also and the Egyptians were urgent upon the people that they might send them out of the land in haste for they said we be all dead men and the people took their dough before it was leavened their kneading troughs being bound up in their clothes upon their shoulders and the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver and jewels of gold

08:10 and raiment and the Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians so that they lent unto them such things as they required and they spoiled the Egyptians and the children of Israel journeyed from Ramsey to Succoth about 600,000 on foot that were men beside children and a multitude a mixed multitude went up also with them and flocks and herds and every and even very much cattle and they baked unleavened cakes of dough which they brought forth out of Egypt for it was not leavened because they were thrust out of Egypt and could not tarry neither had they prepared for themselves

08:47 any victual now the sojourning of the children of Israel who dwelled in Egypt was four hundred and thirty years and it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years even the self same day it came to pass that all of the hosts of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt it is a night to be much observed unto the Lord for bringing them out from the land of Egypt this is that night of the Lord to be observed of all the children of Israel in their generations and the Lord said unto Moses and Aaron this is the ordinance of the Passover there shall no stranger eat

09:21 thereof but every man’s servant that is brought bought for money when thou has circumcised him then shall he eat thereof and a foreigner and a hired servant shall not eat thereof in one house shall it be eaten thou shall not carry forth aught of the flesh abroad out of the house neither shall you break a bone thereof all the congregation of Israel shall keep it and when a stranger shall sojourn with thee and will keep the Passover to the Lord let all his males be circumcised and then let him come near

09:49  and keep it and he shall be as one that is born in the land for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof one law shall be to him that is homeborn and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you thus did all the children of Israel as the Lord commanded Moses and Aaron so they did and it came to pass the self same day that the Lord did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies

10:12  and that there is the ten plagues Exodus 7 is where we started several episodes ago and wrapping up here in Exodus 12 we see so much in these plagues

10:26 we see God’s power so much so that we see God working on so many levels he is issuing plagues to incite Pharaoh to let the people go at the same time he’s showing what sin does to people the hardness of heart at the same time he is preparing his own temple that will be built the tabernacle in the wilderness that will be built

10:49 because he the Egyptians he in their heart gave favor to the Israelites you see God can work in the hearts of men and women even in children amen and God’s God can work there to give them favor so they had favor on the Israelites and they said oh we really respect you we love you we’re gonna give you these things give you all these jewels and everything which would eventually go into the tabernacle Amen.

11:09  God was working on so many levels and those last two plagues really they all hold significance but if you look at the last two you have darkness and then you have the killing of the firstborn and we understand that this is how the Passover came to be

11:25  and it’s very important and it’s still celebrated today among Jews and what is the Passover a picture of it’s a picture of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ the perfect spotless lamb and the firstborn being killed

11:41  look at 1 Corinthians 15:20 but now Christ has risen from the dead and became the firstfruits of them that slept we understand that God Christ was God’s only begotten Son to die on the cross and so God himself gave his firstborn for the sins of of mankind and for those that accept Christ as Savior

11:58 they are then born again and they are God’s people and they are passed over from death into life and so we see so much significance in these plagues as it relates to the cross and and what Jesus did for us that we couldn’t do for ourselves and what God through Jesus has done for us because we know God Jesus and the Holy Ghost

12:17 that’s the three in one Godhead amen and we see in this whole several chapters of Scripture we see God’s providence he’s telling us to believe and to understand that he is at work and he’s doing things I mean what did the Israelites do nothing they just had to obey they just had to believe they didn’t do anything they just basically stood still yeah every once in a while Moses would have to hold up his arm or hold up at the rod at God’s command but generally speaking there was not much that the Israelites had to do

12:45 we as Christians today we just need to believe God is more than willing to do the work God will work through you and with you and He’ll work supernaturally around you again working in the hearts and minds of those around you that’s why the Bible says that the Lord goes before you amen he’s able to do great works but all we have to do is believe in Him

13:05  and then give Him the glory when he does do these great things how much so does God do something great for somebody and then the man takes the glory takes the credit no the glory belongs to God

13:17 we are nothing without God we can do nothing without God we can bear no good fruit without God and so we must understand this that we are given insight into a practical series of events that that happened in real history that God showed His power and His provision during and in and we need to look at God in that light

13:39 and there’s so much that can be preached on this but please look at God as all-powerful all mighty and worthy of all praise and honor realize he’s at work in your life the same God that was there in Israel in Egypt for the Israelites is there here today for those that believe on Him

13:55 and and trust Him, let’s serve Him, let’s fear Him, let’s live for Him, with our whole hearts while we can on this earth

14:02 and we will spend an eternity in glory with Him if we are saved and believe on him let’s make that our our life’s mission today

14:10  Thank you for listening take care God bless and Amen.
