Bible Study Resource – Part 1 – Genesis 2:16-17 (S2Ep42)

“And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” — Genesis 2:16-17 (KJV)

In Part 1 of our study on Genesis 2:16-17, we reflect on God’s clear command to Adam—he was free to eat from every tree in the garden except one. This command, along with its consequences, teaches us about the importance of obedience and trusting God’s word. Our obedience to God’s commands has far-reaching consequences, just as Adam’s disobedience brought death into the world.

This guide encourages us to reflect on the impact of our obedience, believe in the truth of God’s Word, and understand the consequences of disobedience. By following God’s commands, we experience peace, blessings, and alignment with His will.

If you’d like to explore these teachings further, our full learning guide includes prayer prompts and reflection questions to help you grow in obedience and trust in God’s Word. Click here to explore the Genesis 2:16-17 guide.
